Buying

We aim to keep things simple here at Ukplateseller. Therefore we have broken it down into a 5 step process.

  1. Browse our stock for your ideal registration, (ensuring that the year of the selected registration is suitable for your vehicle).
  2. Once happy, fill in your credentials (i.e. Full Name and Address) and press "Add to cart."
  3. Follow the steps to pay for the registration. You will have a number of finance options. Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via email (ukplateseller@gmail.com) or for a faster response, @ukplateseller via Instagram.
  4. We will then post the physical set of plates and ownership document to you via Royal Mail First Class Recorded Delivery (Signed for). A tracking number will be supplied. Both items may be sent out separately, in which we will provide 2 tracking numbers.
  5. Now you can sit back and relax! We will keep an eye on the tracking for you - all you will need to do is sign for and collect your new registration! See below for the assignment process.

You can assign a registration online via the DVLA website between 7AM to 7PM, Monday to Sunday. Please see link:

https://www.gov.uk/personalised-vehicle-registration-numbers/keep-or-assign

  • Visit the above link and fill out all required details. All information will be on your vehicles latest V5 logbook and the certificate of entitlement provide by us.
  • Once the online application is successful (only takes a few minutes), you must immediately put on your new physical plates (supplied by us) and notify your insurance company your registration has changed. After that, you are good to go and drive with your new personalised registration!

DVLA will issue you a new V5 logbook with your new registration within 3 to 5 working days. It will be sent to the same address as on the existing V5 logbook. All previous documents will expire (old V5 logbook and certificate of entitlement).

Please feel free to send us an email if you require any help or for a faster response a direct message on Instagram (instagram.com/ukplateseller).

It is a common misconception that putting someone down as a nominee gives them equal rights as the "purchaser" - this is NOT true.

The only rightful way to get a registration into your ownership is to assign it to a vehicle on your name. This means that the vehicles V5 Logbook is in your name (and is up-to-date information/date wise).

However, if you purchase a registration from us - you can keep it unassigned until you are ready to assign it. All of our registrations are provided on a "safe-cert". Meaning there is no rush to assign the registration - apart from the expiry date.

The expiry date is shown on the ownership document, and can be renewed for another 10 years for a fee of £80. You will need to contact the DVLA to do this.

We price our registrations very competitively by taking into account the clarity of the registration, as well as others on the market - if there are any. Therefore, prices are fixed :)

Both certificate of entitlement and physical plates will be dispatched within 2 to 3 working days via Royal Mail First Class recorded delivery or equivalent. Tracking number supplied.

The certificate of entitlement and physical plates may be received in separate deliveries. Tracking number(s) are provided with every order.

We offer a range of finance options at our checkout. Choose the one you are suited to best.

Unfortunately you cannot. A Registration is classed as ‘personalised goods’ under the law; and as we sell rights to the registration it cannot be damaged per se – therefore no refund claim can be made to "Ukplateseller."

Each registration mark for sale is clearly described, (be sure to click on the "Description" drop-down tab to find other key information for that particular registration mark).

As a further disclaimer, before you can continue to purchase a registration, you must click the box agreeing that you/the purchaser understands that a refund cannot be given. This is purely down to vital information being exposed, which can allow a registration marks ownership to be taken immediately.

Physical plates are also classified as personalised goods’. They are custom ordered to your specification and cannot be refunded.

However, with regards to damaged or defective plates. Please inspect your order upon receiving and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Note: Physical plates are made in-house, by hand. Extremely minor deflects such as: small bubbles on the backing do not warrant a return. We will quality inspect each plate that leaves us, so this should never be the case :)

Yes. You can purchase a registration and keep it on retention certificate until ready to assign to a suitable vehicle.

The expiry date is mentioned on the certificate (most of our registrations have around 9 or 10 years left). You must assign the registration to a vehicle before the expiry date or renew it with DVLA for an additional 10 years at a cost of £80.

Not at all! The price you see is the price to get all you need in order to assign and use your new registration!

We cover the set of plates, cost of registration and the transfer fee.

However, notifying your insurance of the change make require a small cost (on average £5). This is the only thing you may need to cover.

No. Modified spacing is NOT road legal and at your own risk.

We have a clear ROAD LEGAL section for plates you can use on-road - and pass your MOT with.

SHOW SIGNS can be spaced, but are strictly for OFF-ROAD usage only. We will not take liability if you choose to do so.

The law permits the purchase of number plates as a gift, so the names do not need to match on both documents. You can use your own ID, and the entitlement certificate belonging to a family member or friend to purchase number plates from us.

If you order a road legal set, yes they will. They will be spaced correctly, as per your certificate of entitlement. And have the correct manufacturers postcode - and BSAU code visible at the bottom of your plate.

Yes, if you have selected to print road legal number plates from our website.

We supply each order of plates with a set of high quality double sided adhesive strips. Applied to multiple vehicles, trialed and tested.

Some people opt to drill their plates and screw them onto the car. We do not recommend this as you risk damage to the plates - if not done properly. We will not offer a refund if you damage your plates by doing so.
